School Workshops

School Workshops

Annabel runs print workshops for schools at Key stage 3 & 4 at Porthmeor Print Workshop, St Ives in Cornwall. This is a large print studio with 2 large etching presses, situated above the Penwith Gallery on Back Lane West. The studios were used by iconic artists such as Patrick Heron and Roger Hilton.

Annabel can deliver morning or afternoon sessions for schools in collagraph/monoprinting. This is easily resourced, using found/recyclable materials such as wallpaper, pva, tile adhesive and natural materials. Children would prepare a plate similar to a collage using card and when dry can print it several times using safe wash inks. This activity suits all age groups and abilities. Designs can be created according to a specific theme suited to school projects.

Workshops will cover; exploring materials, mark-making, drawing, experimenting, colour theory etc.. All materials are provided as well as aprons.

Classes are up to 30 children (in groups of 10)
Mixed abilities/differentiation exercises
Short and fun sessions
Reasonable rates

‘“We very much enjoyed our time with Annabel and learning from her how to do the cyanotype process. Though some students have had experiences with cyanotype, they grew a deeper knowledge and understanding of the process and had a lot of fun doing it. For the students how had never done it before- it was like magic before their eyes! Even us teachers learnt more and had fun doing it! Annabel also was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Her enthusiasm shows in her fun approach to teaching and she also was able to help us out last minute, which we really appreciate! Would highly recommend- from The Knights Templar School, Baldock. February 2024”
