Collagraph Workshops

Collagraph is an extremely versatile way of printing involving preparing a plate using a range of everyday materials such as tile adhesive, ripped card, PVA, masking tape and other found materials. Collagraph plates are printed similarly to etching. Ink is deposited into all the areas of the plate as an intaglio process then excess ink is removed carefully afterwards, leaving it only within the recesses. An extra layer of colour can be applied with a lighter tone by rolling ink over the surface of the plate (relief printing). This gives an effect which pulls the image out so that it creates contrast and depth. Collagraph workshops will commence in Spring 2024.

“I really enjoyed the 2-day collograph workshop with Annabel and came away inspired to continue. Annabel was generous with her time and knowledge and very clear in her instruction. The two half days were well structured and we managed to create two plates and lots of lovely prints! Her Newmill studio is delightful and well equipped with an etching press and everything required for successful printmaking.”
