MAY MIXED ABILITY COLLOGRAPH COURSE 2018

The next collograph printing course will be held on and 20th & 21st May as part of a painting course which is being run for a week in May by Rosalind Moysen. You can either choose to do painting and/or collograph printing (led by Annabel Wilkes) geared towards mixed abilities. To enquire please email me; bella_wilkes@hotmail.com. We currently have 4 spaces left for the printmaking which will run from 10am until 3/4pm. It is a fun and inventive workshop similar to the March workshops below. You will create 4-6 prints on the second day using relief/intaglio methods in a mixture of colours.

“I attended three of Annabel’s excellent courses and gained a great deal of information and skills that have enabled me to progress in my own work. I would wholly recommend participating in any course that Annabel is running as they will undoubtedly be well-planned, thoroughly enjoyable, fun and excellent value”

I am running a Spring course of collograph printing workshops at the Porthmeor Print Workshop, St Ives this March 2018. They are 2 day workshops which would suit people who are beginners or already artists themselves who would like to try out a new medium.

A variety of colourful collograph prints

There will be a beginners workshop on the 8th & 9th March 2018 if you are interested please contact me asap by email; bella_wilkes @hotmail.com. NOW FULLY BOOKED.

‘Thank you, once again, for your excellent tuition over the last couple of months – I really have enjoyed it and have learned a great deal from you.’

Please see blog for the course dates and prices.

Students learn how to create collograph plates to print in monotone, and then colour using an etching press. This involves a mixture of materials such as polyfiller, tile adhesive, PVA, masking tape, carborundum, textured wallpaper, tissue and more. Students learn to ink up and print the collograph plates in a similar way to etchings. As well as this images can be transformed by using relief printing on top of the intaglio style of printing to give a fantastic effect. The whole process is creative, fascinating and deceptively simple, using found materials to create unique prints.

Venue address and cheques made payable to;

Porthmeor Print Workshop, Back Road West TR26 1NL.

For printmaking materials I can recommend Hawthorn Printmaker Supplies.
